Located within the Telluride National Historic Landmark District and originally constructed in the early 1980s, this mixed-use project included a front facade reconstruction, rear alley addition, and substantial interior reconstruction incorporating two luxury condominiums and a caretaker's living unit above the ground level retail space. The Mulford Building Reconstruction and Addition Project earned the 2008 Award of Excellence for Compatible Infill from the Town of Telluride.
The front facade reconstruction design and detailing reflects the architectural character of the surrounding historic structures while remaining clearly contemporary with materials such as copper cornices and cast stone and brick details. The alley addition contains elegant curves, reflecting the interior's dramatic character.
